Affiliate Disclosure

Short version: ManaGate participates in the TCGplayer affiliate program. When you click a TCGplayer link on our platform and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This income helps us keep the Free plan free. Our card data, price displays, and recommendations are never influenced by affiliate relationships.

1. What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is a revenue-sharing arrangement between a retailer and a publisher (us). The retailer (TCGplayer) provides us with special tracked links. When you click one of those links and complete a qualifying purchase on TCGplayer, we receive a small commission from TCGplayer — paid by TCGplayer, not by you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or navigate directly to TCGplayer.

2. Affiliate programs we participate in

ManaGate currently participates in the TCGplayer Affiliate Program, operated by TCGplayer (Collector’s Cache LLC, a subsidiary of eBay Inc.). Affiliate links appear on card detail pages, price comparison views, and deck export screens inside the ManaGate dashboard. Commissions are paid by TCGplayer — never by you.

We may join additional affiliate programs in the future. This page will be updated to reflect any new relationships before those links are activated.

Where TCGplayer affiliate links appear, they work as follows:

  1. You click a “Buy on TCGplayer” button or a price link within the ManaGate dashboard.
  2. You are redirected to TCGplayer’s website with a tracking parameter in the URL that identifies ManaGate as the referrer.
  3. If you complete a qualifying purchase during that session, TCGplayer credits ManaGate with a commission.
  4. The commission is paid entirely by TCGplayer from their margin — it does not add any cost to your order.

Affiliate links are used only to direct you to the retailer where you can purchase cards. They are never used to track your browsing behavior across other websites.

4. Editorial independence

Our affiliate relationship with TCGplayer does not influence:

  • Price data: Market prices displayed on ManaGate are sourced from TCGplayer, Cardmarket, and Liga Magic via their public market data APIs. We display the prices these marketplaces actually charge — we receive no payment to display higher or lower prices.
  • Card recommendations: AI-generated deck lists and card suggestions are based solely on format legality, synergy, and statistical performance. We do not promote specific cards because of affiliate commissions.
  • Marketplace ranking: Where multiple price sources are shown, they are displayed in order of price (lowest first) or as selected by you — never ranked by affiliate relationship.
  • Community deck content: Decks published by community members are their own work and are not influenced by our affiliate relationships.

5. No extra cost to you

Using a ManaGate affiliate link costs you nothing extra. TCGplayer’s prices are identical whether you arrive via our link or directly. Commissions are paid from TCGplayer’s existing revenue, not added to your cart total. If you prefer not to use affiliate links, you can always navigate to TCGplayer directly at tcgplayer.com.

6. Why we participate

ManaGate offers a generous Free plan that covers the needs of most casual players — no credit card required, no artificial restrictions on core features. Affiliate commissions help offset the infrastructure and development costs that make this possible. When you buy cards through our links, you directly support the platform staying free for everyone.

We chose TCGplayer because it is the largest English-language Magic: The Gathering marketplace and the primary price reference for most players in the Americas. The affiliate relationship followed naturally from the price integration we already had.

7. Regulatory compliance

7.1 United States — FTC disclosure

This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255). The FTC requires that material connections between publishers and advertisers be clearly disclosed. ManaGate’s participation in the TCGplayer affiliate program constitutes such a material connection, and we are disclosing it here and at the point of use within the platform.

7.2 Brazil — LGPD & consumer protection

Brazilian consumer protection law (Código de Defesa do Consumidor, Law 8,078/1990) requires commercial relationships that may influence content to be transparently disclosed. This page, combined with in-platform labeling, satisfies that requirement. No personal data is shared with TCGplayer as part of the affiliate relationship beyond the standard referral tracking parameter in the URL.

7.3 European Union — consumer rights directive

For users in the EU/EEA: affiliate links constitute a commercial communication. We disclose this relationship clearly and do not disguise affiliate content as editorial content.

8. Affiliate links and your privacy

Clicking an affiliate link sends a referral identifier to TCGplayer in the URL. TCGplayer may set their own cookies to track the referral session. ManaGate does not receive any personal information about you from TCGplayer — only aggregate commission reports (e.g. “X qualifying purchases this month”).
